The June 2009 Southern California Dopefest was organized over here and, once again, was at the Yardhouse in Costa Mesa (map).

The April 2008 Southern California Dopefest was organized over here and was at the Yardhouse in Costa Mesa (map).

silenus had some nifty door prizes. I (Arnold) walked away with an excellent bottle of mead. Most of us had Hawaiian shirts on, but Stranger On A Train had a nice sports jacket and was much more dignified than the rest of us. The Sonoran Lizard King brought a frog riding a lizard and handed out his Discordian business card which of course had me scratching my head. I finally got to meet xash who I only know from e-mails and was lucky enough to sit across from one of our two female representatives, Silver Tyger Girl (anu-la 1979 needs to set her alarm clock a little earlier I think). I didn’t get a chance to talk to everyone unfortunately (as always happens at the Dopefests) but I had a good time. The board members I’ve met in person have always proven to be genuinely nice people.
Pictures
anu-la 1979 arrived near the end of the meeting but I didn’t get a picture of her. EJsGirl arrived about 10 minutes after the rest of us had left so no pictures of her either. I didn’t make any efforts to get people to pose, just captured them when I thought they were looking my way. As you can tell I’m not a professional photographer. I only took one short per person so you’re stuck with what you see here — which is why poor Stranger On A Train ends up with a photo where he looks somewhat less alert than his posts at the message board would have you believe.
Before looking at a picture, try and picture the person in your mind, and see how close you get!
